The designs are etched or engraved into the surface, and appear to be hand painted. It is 24 inches wide, 31 inches high and about 12 inches deep. There is a hidden compartment in the bootom, accessed by lifting the bottom shelf. Beautiful workmanship. There are some light cracks in the lacquer in the very top, barely visible.
