We are not completely certain how this works but assume that if you connect it to air, it makes the lift go up and down. You can pull up and push down the lift freely as it is right now, so we do not know if that is a good or a bad thing. It is untested and the dimensions are shown in the pictures. Goes up to about 22 1/2 inches in height and about 10 inches high at its lowest level
