Description:
  • Sellers tell us this set has been in the family since they came to California in 1856, and it came on a ship around the horn of South America, prior to the Panama Canal
  • The table is made entirely of quarter sawn Oak. Expandable, with 3 leaves, a sturdy, sliding boards to expand, and a 5th leg in the middle that moves as the table expands. All of the 5 legs are solid, and fluted
  • Each of the 11 chairs has spiraled sections in the back and on the front legs. One of the chairs is Captain's Style, with arms
  • The table surface is 28.5" high. With all 3 leaves in, it is 7' long and just under 4' wide. Each leaf adds 1' of length, so the table is 4' square with no leaves added, and can also be 5', 6' or 7' long
  • The 3 leaves are all a little darker than the main sections, the main part may have been refinished at one point. The leaves look original
  • Most of the chairs are sturdy and strong, 2 need some tightening of the back at the base. 9 have matching fabric, 2 have a different pattern
  • A strong, unique and very nice antique set
